January 2022: " It was quite a thing for me to make the choice of having a doula by my side, because I didn't know anyone who had ever done this. This is one of the best choices and perhaps the greatest gift I've ever given myself.
We met several times during my pregnancy. I have experienced this as very pleasant from the first meeting. I have rarely come across someone so open and without judgment and who could sense so well what I needed at that moment. During my pregnancy I found it difficult to let go of control and stay in the here and now. Every time you listened patiently to me and you always knew the right thing to say to give me the strength to listen to myself again and to feel. |

You also gave me amazing massages, which made it possible for me to listen to my own body. Because of our process I had a lot of confidence in the birth itself. Though there was always a fear that I would have to go to the hospital. The fact that you would also be with us in unexpected situations has given me a lot of peace.
I experienced the birth itself as magical. The atmosphere there was so nice and soothing that I can only think of it with warm and positive feelings. When I needed you, you were there and you stayed until our son truly landed. I felt safe and heard. I was never ashamed of myself. You helped me guard my limits and gave me what I needed before I knew it. At the same time, you have given me and my partner the space to do and experience this together. I want to thank you for these wonderful experiences. Thanks to you, our son has been able to make a nice warm start on earth. We will tell him enthusiastically about you when he is older.

July 2019: "I have had so many great encounters with my doula Patouf during my pregnancy. I can use a lot of words to describe Patouf but one of them is;
A true angel. I remember the day I met her. It wasn’t planned at all but it had to happen and was meant to be. I knew she was a doula through a mutual friend and was very curious to hear more about her work. I was just three or four months pregnant when I met her for the first time an I had told her about my previous pregnancy which unfortunately led to a miscarriage. She felt my pain and sadness and comforted me like she was a friend I had known for years. With a warm hug, words of wisdom and light she reassured me of the beautiful human being inside my womb who would come and be with me and my partner in the near future. |

"Patouf makes a few visits during the pregnancy. All visits were very helpfull, comforting and fun. Like I mentioned before, it felt like I had a friend next to me. She has such an open heart; you immediately feel at home in the same room with her. Such a special bond of sisterhood manifested between two women. One who carries the child and the other who guides it. This is a very important factor and skill to have in her form of work. Besides her being a very kind and nice person to be around, her special skills, knowledge and especially guidance is inevitable in her profession as a doula.
In my experience having a doula was amazing. To think about if I would not have had her in my presence during the whole happening, I definitely would have had a harder time. Not only was she there for me, but also a great support for my partner. I made a conscious decision to not have my mother with me during labour, or anyone close to me besides my partner. It can also be a beautiful thing having close ones around to feel a strong sense of comfort and support. Having Patouf with me during the birth of my daughter, a person separate from my known personal life, a person completely without judgement and separate from any form of emotional attachment, was a great free feeling. To me Patouf embodies the perfect mother, the perfect sister, the perfect friend and the perfect doula." |
February 2021: " From the moment I was pregnant, I knew I wanted a doula by my side. When I did some research I came across Patouf's website. This immediately appealed to me and I said to my partner: ''I want her there!''
Our first meeting immediately confirmed my feeling. It felt very familiar and I felt warm inside. During the sessions there was information about how everything worked. She listened carefully to our wishes and she thought along if we had any questions. She listened without judgment and we were able to discuss all topics with her. Every time she was there, she was completely in the here and now and that was a very comforting feeling. At the end of every session, a wonderful massage in which I could completely sink into my body. This allowed me to feel my own body and be in the here and now, without having to think about anything else.

It was a very special and beautiful journey that we were allowed to make together. It feels like I've known her for a long time and that allowed me to be completely be myself during the birth of my son. During labour she was really my support and also a huge support for my partner. She never left my side and I was not ashamed of anything during this beautiful process. This is because she is just the person she is: a beautiful, soft person that you can trust and rely on.
Thanks for everything dear Patouf and should we ever get a second child, I would love to have you by my side again." |
